New Delhi, September 26, 2026 – As India accelerates the development of its semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, Malaysia-based UB Group is strengthening its industry connections through a series of strategic engagements spanning advanced factory automation, engineering talent development and cross-border business collaboration.

During SEMICON India 2026, held from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, UB Group advanced its engagement with India's semiconductor ecosystem through industry-level discussions, strategic partnerships, academic collaboration and business-to-business (B2B) meetings.

Together, these initiatives reflect a broader approach to industrial development, connecting practical manufacturing solutions with the engineering expertise, industry partnerships and business networks needed to support increasingly complex semiconductor operations.

Connecting Industry Expertise with Manufacturing Opportunities

At the invitation of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Hawke Tan, Group CEO of UB Group, participated in the Malaysia–India Country Roundtable, contributing industry perspectives on smart manufacturing, industrial integration and engineering talent development.

The roundtable brought together stakeholders from the semiconductor and electronics ecosystem to strengthen bilateral dialogue and explore opportunities for technology partnerships, industrial capabilities and regional cooperation.

Building on these industry connections, UB Group also formalized a strategic collaboration with Kaynes Semicon, focusing on advanced intralogistics and lights-out automation for semiconductor manufacturing.

The collaboration will explore solutions for automated material movement, intelligent storage, Overhead Hoist Systems (OHS) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), with the aim of developing a phased roadmap toward more integrated and efficient manufacturing operations.

The initiative highlights the growing importance of factory-wide automation and material flow optimization as semiconductor manufacturers expand their production capabilities.

Developing the Engineering Talent Behind Industrial Transformation

Recognizing that sustainable industrial growth depends on both technology and people, UB Group also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with D Y Patil International University (DYPIU), Pune, to explore collaboration in smart engineering, technical skills development, industry exposure and Centre of Excellence (CoE) programs.

The collaboration will explore opportunities aligned with UB Group's Global Industrial Operating Platform (GIOP) framework, supporting the development of industry-relevant engineering capabilities and closer integration between academic learning and real-world manufacturing requirements.

The MoU was represented by Hawke Tan, Group CEO of UB Group; SW Woo, Executive Director of UB Group; Prof. Manish Bhalla, Vice-Chancellor of DYPIU; and Dr. Priya Charles, Associate Director, SEMR and Head of the Department of Semiconductor Engineering at DYPIU.

UB Group also acknowledges Kaynes Technology for its support in facilitating the academic collaboration.

By connecting industry expertise with structured capability development, the initiative seeks to help address the increasing demand for multidisciplinary engineering talent in semiconductor and advanced manufacturing environments.

Strengthening Market Access and Industry Connections

Beyond strategic and academic partnerships, UB Group participated in targeted B2B meetings organized by the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) and MATRADE on September 17.

Led by SW Woo, Executive Director of UB Group, the meetings provided a platform to engage potential customers, technology partners and manufacturing stakeholders, explore emerging industry requirements and identify areas for potential commercial and technical collaboration.

These engagements support UB Group's efforts to extend its international business network and connect its smart manufacturing, material handling and industrial automation capabilities with opportunities in India's developing semiconductor ecosystem.

Building an Integrated Foundation for Future Growth

UB Group's participation in SEMICON India 2026 extended beyond individual meetings and agreements. The combined engagements addressed several interconnected requirements for industrial growth: access to advanced automation capabilities, industry-ready engineering talent, strategic partnerships and international business networks.

For semiconductor manufacturers, technological advancement alone is not sufficient. Successful industrial transformation also requires the integration of equipment, material flow, digital systems, engineering expertise and operational execution.

With more than three decades of experience in industrial automation, UB Group aims to contribute practical engineering solutions and integration capabilities to support these evolving requirements.

The engagements at SEMICON India 2026 represent a step toward deeper Malaysia–India industrial cooperation, positioning UB Group to explore further opportunities in semiconductor automation, industry capability development and cross-border collaboration.
